Abdulla was the veteran, he was one of the most experienced and one of the best team leaders in the history of Manama basketball. He fought for the championship, he was well leading the team on court showing confidence and leadership all along. Abdulla never gave up hope of winning the league title as Al Ahli was dominating in the 70's and 80's. At the end of the eighties decade came the first championship for Manama, thanks to the 3pointer from Abdulla that beat the buzzer, to take the final game to overtime and later on winning the tie breaker game. His ability to shoot from long range even  before introduction of the three point line, was one of his capabilities. Abdulla was picked for the National team regularly. He was the first leader to receive the league trophy for Manama(1990), as well as the first GCC trophy in 1994.
